Holding a current practising licence — registration alone is not enough.
Chiropractic is a healthcare profession focused on the diagnosis, management and prevention of conditions affecting the neuro-musculoskeletal system — particularly the spine, joints, muscles and nervous system. A qualified chiropractor is trained to assess the patient, identify potential causes of musculoskeletal problems, recognise conditions requiring referral, and develop an appropriate care plan.
Care is commonly sought for back and neck pain, headaches associated with the neck, joint and musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries, and stiffness or reduced mobility.
Your safety matters
The Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC) regulates, supervises and controls the training and practice of allied health professionals in Uganda. A person calling themselves a chiropractor is not necessarily qualified or licensed — always check professional registration before receiving treatment.
Ask where they completed their chiropractic education and what qualification they hold.
Ask for their registration details and verify them through the official AHPC system.
A practitioner may have been registered previously but not currently hold a valid practising licence.
A responsible chiropractor recognises conditions that require medical investigation, referral or co-management.
You should receive clear information about your assessment, treatment options, expected benefits and potential risks.
The Chiropractic Association of Uganda represents and supports the development of the chiropractic profession in Uganda. We are committed to promoting high standards of professional practice, supporting appropriate chiropractic education and training, promoting patient safety, educating the public, and encouraging ethical and professional conduct in collaboration with other healthcare professions.
